Five hundred Spanish Knights were the dowry brought by Constance of Aragon, the daughter of the king of Spain and widow of the king of Hungary, when she became Frederick the Second’s first wife. The two got married in Sicily on 14 August 1209, when she was only 25 and he was only 14. For sure, it was not a love marriage, but an alliance required by the reason of state. The knights were useful to fight against the Sicilian nobles that shortly rebelled against Frederick II. When you enter the Knights Room, you will be fascinated by the splendid wooden floor and the suggestive frescoes on the ceiling, and you will enjoy the contagious elegance of the space.
